Startup Fest is a weekend-long event designed to bring together entrepreneurs and small business professionals from a wide range of industries to catalyze a startup community in the Greater Battle Creek region. During this event, entrepreneurs receive one-on-one mentoring from experienced business professionals to define, design and grow their business venture. Startups also have the opportunity to consult with coaches, which provide knowledge and advice in their field of business expertise (i.e. marketing, legal, product development, financial, intellectual property and more).
On Sunday during the final day, startups will compete in a pitch competition for the opportunity to win a total of $4,500 in cash awards (1st place - $2,500, 2nd place - $1,250 and 3rd place - $750). A panel of community judges score startups based upon five criteria. The pitch competition is open to the public.
Startup Fest is organized by the Center for Entrepreneurship (CfE), a program of Generation E Institute. The event is supported by contributions and sponsorships from local partners. Major sponsors include: Battle Creek Community Foundation, Battle Creek Unlimited, City of Battle Creek, Magnificent Motor Mile, Southwest Michigan Community Development Corporation and Varnum LLP.
